Responsible for supporting pre-sales activities by preparing cost estimates on new business proposals for the NET100 Chantilly Sales team. The Project Estimator will determine the most accurate and competitive costs for bid preparation, proposal responses, and related installation services, according to all job specifications. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Review pre-construction bids and RFP’s for determining client needs and services to be rendered; Identify any contract omissions, construction techniques, and potential modifications in bid preparations;
Compile a detailed breakdown of all potential components and elements relevant to developing a profitable proposal strategy;
Review accessible resources for recommending best solutions based on cost, installation quality, and/or availability of materials;
Research best-pricing options, and generate competitive estimates of all installation labor, materials, and production costs. Incorporate historical data, where applicable, from prior purchase orders, subcontracts, etc.;
Coordinate final pricing methodology, ensuring 100% accuracy in costs and quantity;
Maintain communication on status and findings to NET100 management in a timely manner;
Establish long-term business relationships with distributors and manufacturers to negotiate competitive pricing on job materials and equipment;
Maintain files and document supporting pricing information and communication from suppliers, including cost history on different types of project resources;
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum of four (4) years' experience in structured cabling or related field;
Ability to gather and analyze pricing information for accurate and competitive cost estimates; Excellent mathematical skills;
Exceptional organizational and record-keeping skills. Must be able to document and verify pricing details, and deliver findings in a well-organized format;
Ability to build strong, mutually beneficial business relationships with multiple vendors and manufacturers. Must be able to demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness to gain the best pricing options;
Ability to prioritize and work in a fast paced environment, demonstrating a high degree of initiative. Multitasking skills required;
Ability to work independently; Excellent punctuality and reliability record, with willingness to work overtime, often on short notice;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Excel and MS Project experience required;
Strong technical writing and communications skills required;
High School diploma or equivalent; Related industry certifications and/or registrations a plus;
Professional, team-oriented work ethic; Ability to see the “big picture”.
